What is Cascade Moderne

Cascade Moderne is meant to be a display of my art collection and also (eventually) a resource for others interested in collecting American and classically-themed fine art, as well as Japanese anime cels and other production materials.

Like many 90s kids, I grew up with Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z and other newly dubbed anime. My first real art purchase was at 15--an animation cel of Trunks from Dragon Ball Z. From there, I slowly expanded my collection into new series and other art genres while on a budget. After college, I spent several years working at an auction house in Seattle, WA, where I was able to learn a lot more about the fine art market and came to better appreciate the diversity of American art. I hope to encourage others to collect art and show it's possible no matter the income level.

Cascade Moderne began as a collaboration with friends, but soon became a dedicated space for my collection. The name was inspired by the Cascade Mountain range in Washington state, the Cascade neighborhood in Seattle, and Cascadilla Gorge in Ithaca, NY; "moderne" is a reference to modern and mid-century art.

End of DBZ, teen Chibi Trunks. Vertical pan cel, with matching sketch, both trimmed to standard size. I reunited these pieces which were separated at some point. Scanned with non-matching background.
